Pixelated brought my digitally printed textile work into furniture, using an existing sofa designed by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso as its architectural form.

The work traces back to a night of vivid dreams in 2006, following a period in Shanghai, in which clothes, buildings, furniture and entire environments appeared pixelated. The experience became a catalyst for moving away from the film I was editing and towards digitally printed textiles. The pixel subsequently entered Quadrat, my final RCA project developed with Peter Maxwell Smith, before reappearing here at the scale of furniture.

Photographed in London in 2008, Pixelated circulated widely through design publications and the emerging online design press. Its unexpected visibility became an early catalyst, opening a sequence of collaborations across textiles, furniture and interiors.
