Created for Metalarte by, a series inviting artists to intervene in existing Metalarte designs, the project transformed Josep Aregall’s Alta Costura lamp into a limited edition of 25 numbered and signed pieces.

Working within the imposed condition of black and white, I developed the pattern directly through screen printing. Each three-metre length of fabric was hand printed before being formed into the lamp’s sculptural shade.

The process moves between image and object: a flat printed surface is folded and suspended, fragmenting the pattern and allowing light, shadow and movement to continually alter its appearance.
